The Otterbein Lake Project – Wessie

Creating a community asset to enhance the scenic, recreational, educational and environmental value of Otterbein Lake for the citizens of Westerville and the surrounding areas.

Two schools in Westerville, Ohio, are helping with the Otterbein Lake project by covering large wooden donation boxes with their own concept of Wessie, the Otterbein Lake sea sea serpent. Look for these boxes around Westerville and drop in a donation if you’re inspired to do so. Look for the brochures nearby.

Mrs. Lisa Guseman’s third grade class at Robert Frost Elementary School

Mrs. Guseman’s class has finished their whimsical design. The box will appear around town to raise awareness of Wessie’s home, Otterbein Lake in Westerville, OH.

The class voted one the design and then created it with guidance from Hyla Skudder, Robert Frost's Artist-in-Residence.

Mrs. Jackie Ryan’s 4th grade class at Hanby School

Mrs.. Ryan’s class is working on their design. As you can see at left, it has a spectacular Wessie head coming out of the top.
