family fun will be along the Alum Creek Bikeway along Otterbein Lake in
Westerville, OH. Have a look at a slide show
(1.8 MB) from last year’s event to get an idea of the animals, plants,
music, food, and good times to be had at this year’s Wessie Fest. Here is a
flyer with the details.
Cub scout pack 197 cleaned up around
Otterbein Lake recently. Look at those trash bags.

Until
recently Otterbein Lake has been hidden from view in its secluded
Westerville, Ohio, location south of Main St. and just west of Alum Creek.
The 8-acre lake, known only to a few fishermen, is being transformed.
A
group of central Ohio residents, companies, and organizations are working
with the Westerville Parks and Recreation Department to develop the lake to
be scenic, environmental, educational, and recreational.
The lake’s edge has been
resculpted with shallows for better access and better habitat, and will
soon be replanted with native species. An overlook is almost complete and
will allow safe fishing and observation just off the bike path.
Would you like to be
part of this adventure? Look at the notices in the green box to the left
for upcoming initiatives.
When you visit, look for
evidence of a
creature much like Loch Ness's Nessie, but with the more
Westerville-appropriate name Wessie. Stay tuned to see what this
evidence might be!
The design is being
implemented in phases as funds are raised.
